When Mr.Vu first started designing fans, they wanted to create a line of fans that were associated with Vietnam and had a national scale. Ideas for the design, such as the red flag with a yellow star and the letter V,… were rejected because they were either inappropriate or infringed on copyright. Mr.Vu and his team eventually settled on the lotus flower, Vietnam’s national flower.
The Lotus fan was the first brainchild of the Mr.Vu team, who had a passion for designing and manufacturing fans that embodied the Vietnamese spirit.
In early 2014, Lan Huong flew to Taiwan to meet with a manufacturer to produce the Lotus fan. Because the fan was a custom design, the factory required an order of at least 500 units per production run, which cost nearly $100.000 to bring the lotus to life on the fan.
The first draft of the fan had a folding-opening shape, which depicted the flower in bloom. However, there were several problems with this design. First, the folding-opening process took too long. Second, this design was not practical for homes with low ceilings, as it required a minimum height of 3.5 meters. Third, the design was too ornate and the pink color was a bit too flashy, limiting its target audience.
Let’s take a look back at the journey of Mr.Vu Lotus, the first brainchild of Mr.Vu, through the years:
2017: The Lotus fan was born
After many rounds of research, Mr.Vu noticed that the majority of fans on the market had pre-made fan blades that followed a common template. He decided that this would be the new highlight for his product. The Lotus was born with a classic design that included 5 high-quality wooden blades with grain, a span of 1.42 meters, 5 lights, lotus flower-shaped blades – the national flower of Vietnam in bloom, a bronze color, and an aluminum motor with a 2-way rotation.
Mr.Vu chose the traditional bronze color for the Lotus fan, which is a strategic model, with the hope of sending a message about Vietnam’s glorious history. The fan can be controlled by a pull cord, a remote control, or a wall-mounted switch. The advanced reverse function can be used for both summer and winter.
The fan is designed with great sophistication and precision. The 5 LED lights are both decorative and provide natural airflow thanks to the use of an ALUMINUM motor.
2019: Mr.Vu adds a luxurious transparent lampshade option
The transparent lampshade helps the light to spread throughout the room when the light is turned on, and it eliminates the need for 2 pull cords to improve the aesthetic of the fan and make it more convenient for customers to use. The fan can be controlled directly by the remote control or the wall-mounted switch.
2020: A year of change for Mr.Vu Lotus
The Lotus ceiling fan added a new version, a golden bronze color, which is a popular color for Vietnamese furniture. This color represents the elegant beauty of the royal family and is paired with a golden vein lampshade. Mr. Vu also upgraded the motor to a DC motor with 6 speeds, which saves 70% of electricity compared to an AC motor without changing the airflow of the fan.
2021: The addition of the Lotus Gold 1 LED version
Many customers are passionate about the unique beauty of the Lotus, a fan with intricate lotus flower decorations. For customers who prefer fans with lights but with a modern design, the Lotus Gold 1 LED is a great choice.
2022: The addition of the Lotus AC Aluminum motor version and customized lampshade
Mr.Vu added a Lotus version with an AC Aluminum motor, which is super durable, has good heat dissipation, and saves energy when operating. The motor is 188*22mm in size, 10% better than the original, and creates a good airflow, making it suitable for installation in rooms with an area of 25-30 m2
2023: Upgrade of the new product: LOTUS PLUS
A special version to welcome 2023 was sent to Mr. Vu’s customers who have supported Mr. Vu over the years. The Lotus Plus has a large motor, and a 58-inch blade span, and is paired with a larger lampshade, making it look more luxurious and classy.
